So Raw….it’s been in the air for a couple of years now. Started with my friends Kathy and Celeste. They were both into raw, I was curious and they were generous with their enthusiasms. A bit over a year ago, finding myself alone at home for a couple of weeks (husband & son having gone off to Tanzania), I asked Celeste and her mom Val if they wanted to come stay over: we would do the raw kitchen, the sauna and all the exercise and yoga classes we could. Girls’ Spa Vacation. Right at home.
I wanted to lose weight (which I easily did) but what a list of other benefits! Headaches gone, increased energy and it didn’t dip at 4 o’clock, lost the morning cough, lost the sweets craving, never was hungry. But oddest of all: I learned that I have a constant food commentary in my head, a running monologue of what I should or shouldn’t eat, will or won’t have later, what will be good for me or not…..yipes. I learned this because all of a sudden it was Gone. Silent. Wow, how very restful.
I had hoped to make a year of it, as a present to myself for my upcoming Big birthday. Well, not too successful. So when the opportunity came along to study with Russell James, I decided I would commit to that as the birthday present I was unable to sustain over the year. So that’s what this blog will try to chart: my month in OKC at the 105° Academy diving big time into the Fundamentals of Raw.
